Cartooning By Computer... |
These days, I draw digitally using a computer. In fact, the computer has completely revolutionised my working life! It created, and maintains this online portfolio; enquiries and commissions come via email; I draw digitally, and send my work out as print-ready email attachments; or if necessary, write to CD, and post. Importantly, I also speedily find visual reference material using the Google image-search engine. Using a Wacom tablet, or Cintiq, with a laptop computer means that I can quite literally work from anywhere in the world, whilst remaining in touch with my clients. |
| In my studio, I have a Desktop G4 Apple Mac, and an Apple Powerbook laptop for when I'm on the move. (Check for bargains with suppliers like Macwarehouse). |
I have several different sized Wacom Graphic tablets, although I now work almost solely with the fabulous "Cintiq", which is like a tablet and monitor combined.
It's important to have sufficient memory for drawing with software applications. Crucial Technology UK, is well set up for supplying this.

Inks & Papers |
Most of my cartoons are produced and sent digitally, but when prints are required, (for Greeting Card dummies for example), I use an Epson Printer.I buy my papers and inks from Calibre Computing on the Isle of Wight. They usually deliver next day, and prices are very favourable, especially for Compatible inkjet cartridges. Take a look here. |
